It is with the heaviest of hearts and tears streaming down our faces that we must share the devastating news: our dear friend and incredibly talented artist, Cecilie, known to many as PUTRID, is no longer with us. She passed away from an accident last Friday. We were told of her passing today, leaving us in profound shock and disbelief. Her sudden departure has left a sharp wound in our hearts that can never be mended. The world feels pointlessly cruel to have taken her away from us at such a young age. Her loss is not just personal, but a tragedy for art itself.

Cecilie was not just an incredible artist but a vibrant soul who brought joy and creativity to everything she touched. Her work was always amazing. Everything she touched she uplifted with beauty and awe. Her passion and dedication for art was evident in her every fingerprint, from her solo project Molady Maker to her recent contributions to Kemonokaki at Oekaki Connect. Her work stands as a pinnacle of artistry and most will find difficult to ever match her breathtaking work. Her enthusiasm and talent were a constant source of inspiration for all of us who had the privilege of working alongside her.

Beyond her professional achievements, Cecilie was a true friend - kind, supportive, and always ready with a word of encouragement. Her optimism was contagious, and her excitement for the future was palpable in every conversation. Just days ago, we were discussing new projects and possibilities, her voice filled with hope and eagerness for what was to come. Her loss is devastating to the world, to light, to beauty.

Cecilie's love for gaming, particularly her dedication to games like Elden Ring, showcased her determination, her fierce competitive nature, her relentless determination and skill, and indomitable will. She had every single achievement unlocked in Elden Ring, and most in other From Software games like Dark Souls 3. She was so excited for Shadow of the Erdtree. We were all going to play together. Part of what Cecilie was working with us on were games projects. She wanted so much to make games of all kinds, and rhythm based games in particular.

As an artist Cecilie was an abundant source of enthusiasm and inspiration to all who knew her. Witnessing her creative growth and blossoming confidence in honing her creative voice will remain a closely held treasure throughout the lifetime of everyone she connected with. Her future as an artist was so bright and seemed ready to unfold in any number of beautiful ways, and whilst it breaks our hearts to think of what incredible potential we will now miss, her creativity will be held close, cherished, and carried on as a lifelong inspiration within us all. Cecilie — your art will live on with us, eternally a flower frozen in bloom; a still life of boundless potential.

To those of us at Oekaki Connect and Scatter, Cecilie was more than a colleague. She was a vital member of our family. The secret project she worked on with some of us at Scatter will forever hold a piece of her artistic spirit, a bittersweet reminder of her talent and the future works we'll never see. Her contributions will forever inspire us and push us forward.

Words escape us to do justice to how much we will miss her. Our hearts go out to her family, especially her mother, during this difficult time. We're all in this together, mourning the loss of an extraordinary artist and friend.

Cecilie, you were taken from us far too soon. We can’t stop crying over the loss of you. We are utterly heartbroken. Your legacy will live on through your art, the lives you touched, and the memories we cherish. We will miss your laughter, your creativity, and your unwavering friendship. May you rest in peace, dear friend. You will be forever loved and remembered.

Painful thoughts, strong emotions, and tears in our eyes.

When grief is at its worst, we must hold close the good memories we have. The smiles we got to see, the time we had together. Everything she chose to share with us during her time here, these are the things we must hold onto and find joy in during this difficult time.
