We deeply care about our art, and will continue to relentlessly produce art in all forms.
2024 has been a very bittersweet year. We cherish our friends, our community, and the many memories we have all made together, and continue to put our best paw forward in order to make 2025 as good of a year it can be! We continue to build out our own world, from games, new platform launches, to exciting art collections and our own manufacturing facility. Oekaki Connect is working tirelessly.

Soooo. A looong time ago leancup pilled me on stable diffusion in milady village, it was very early still in AI art, a new anime model just released, we didn't even have .safetensors files. People used hypernetworks and textual inversions to train stuff locally, so the technology was very kinda early (think sd 1.4-1.5 at that time).
I've became a friend of haiku, we released a tiny lil Ghiblady side collection (strawberry juice) that financed me getting a solid GPU and Back then AI projects were just simple img2img and hand curation (if you were not lazy, we were and still are obsessive about curation), but I wanted something else. Those hand-curated projects where essentially 1/1s, but I am interested in generative art, so I thought, what if we make a generative pfp project that recombines prompt-traits and drawn traits for a truly generative NFT? A synthesis of artist and AI.

We are crypto natives who see the potential of the blockchain beyond the fugazi, we believe that crypto can be more for everyone, because we fundamentally respect the technology and can see that this way of doing things is better than the old ways.
We want to get good people into crypto now so that they can benefit in the long term. Our forward thinking visions are crystallized. We believe this is all going to happen, and so we want to help steer it in a direction that is ultimately good.
Firstly, PolyJank's release was a reactionary action to Scatter's recent upgrade to V2 - which came with the inclusive support of alternative L2 chains based on Ethereum's EVM. Polygon was chosen primarily as a proactive measure to begin populating Scatter's library of projects on the Polygon L2.
An important and foundational factor of this decision making was the Polygon team's support to Oekaki Connect during the recent Base scandal, whereby Base leadership openly signalled to our local crypto-sphere that they simply have no interest in cultivating or contributing to our prevailing culture, which encapsulates the legitimate passionate interest of real, human crypto users.

When Oekaki Connect decided to release Kemonokaki on the Base blockchain we knew that we might face an uphill battle. We accepted this reality, and decided to work as hard as we could to create a beautiful, inspired, and successful project named: Kemonokaki.
It is with the heaviest of hearts and tears streaming down our faces that we must share the devastating news: our dear friend and incredibly talented artist, Cecilie, known to many as PUTRID, is no longer with us. She passed away from an accident last Friday. We were told of her passing today, leaving us in profound shock and disbelief. Her sudden departure has left a sharp wound in our hearts that can never be mended. The world feels pointlessly cruel to have taken her away from us at such a young age. Her loss is not just personal, but a tragedy for art itself.
Cecilie was not just an incredible artist but a vibrant soul who brought joy and creativity to everything she touched. Her work was always amazing. Everything she touched she uplifted with beauty and awe. Her passion and dedication for art was evident in her every fingerprint, from her solo project Molady Maker to her recent contributions to Kemonokaki at Oekaki Connect. Her work stands as a pinnacle of artistry and most will find difficult to ever match her breathtaking work. Her enthusiasm and talent were a constant source of inspiration for all of us who had the privilege of working alongside her.
Beyond her professional achievements, Cecilie was a true friend - kind, supportive, and always ready with a word of encouragement. Her optimism was contagious, and her excitement for the future was palpable in every conversation. Just days ago, we were discussing new projects and possibilities, her voice filled with hope and eagerness for what was to come. Her loss is devastating to the world, to light, to beauty.

Kemonokaki was originally formed to be new fresh Oekaki Connect IP in a rough pixel (but not quite pixel art) inspired style (as seen with recent βpuppetsβ projects); made as a gift for Oekaki Maker holders.
We werenβt exactly sure what our plans were, or what we were going to do, but we knew we wanted to have kemonomimi inspired traits, very chibi and colourful, and a simple pixel art style. Kemonomimi has been on our minds for a while, and we wanted to do something with it.. so we decided to go for it!
