What do you like about Kawamii?
Kawamii appeals to the gamer audience. It's a Remilio done in its own flavor.
Which Kawamii traits do you like the most?
The dark knight is the most iconic Kawamii. Especially the costumes that paradilf put a lot of time into. They are so iconic of the collection as the mascots. The wizard for example is really good, it's nice and fresh. People love costumes, people love the niqab of Remilio, those go for high ETH often. The costumes of Kawamii are the highlight of the collection.
How long did it take to make Kawamii?
Kawamii was one of those collections, and I tell this to people and they say they couldn't imagine doing that, this collection had a deadline. Paradilf needed to pay his family's bills, and wanted this to be a success. The project took about 2-3 months to complete. It's one of those things where you look at the dev side of things and say "oh, it won't take that long to dev this because we have all of these people together... oh... we're cutting all of this, and these assets don't work together... which adds more time."
What were some traits that were cut?
Looking back at it there were a lot of different hairs that were cut. There was a bape niqab. We didn't want to do too many traits that were reminiscent of Remilio, because we wanted Kawamii to have its own identity. So, yeah, there were a lot of assets that were cut.
What is Jimmy?
I remember doing the little Jimmy pixel art character at the very end. To be honest, it was inspired by Bonkler. I thought "what if I did just a little thing..." I ended up making a rare rainbow background using the pixel art. Some of the highest sales included that trait.
What would you do differently if you did Kawamii again?
If I could go back in time I would have added more traits and a cleanup of certain things. I did the glitch skin, and I think it works, but you can see I messed up the eyes, but it still looks okay.
Oekaki Connect and Scatter assisted you and paradilf while you two were making Kawamii, how did they do?
Very well. Both haiku and coindegen took over and helped out as best they could when it came to the generation side of things as well as everything Scatter of course. Everything was done in Oekaki Connect's dev server, I remember you organized a lot just to ensure the Scatter site wouldn't go down despite us getting so many eyes on the mint site. Scatter didn't go down, and we were able to mint out Kawamii in 95 seconds!
